Osmo UV-Protection Oil is a satin-matt, natural oil based and microporous finish, does not crack, flake, peel or blister. It is water and dirt resistant, moisture regulating and reduces wood discolouration and greying. The natural oils enhance the natural character and tone of the wood.

Covered for a full year against manufacturing defects.

All other items are covered by a 1-year limited warranty against manufacturing defects — plus an additional 21 days to account for delivery — starting from the date of purchase. If your item arrives faulty or fails under normal use, we'll repair it, replace it, or refund the purchase price.

Normal wear, fading from sun exposure, and damage caused by misuse, storms or freezing are not covered. Fabric liners, grow bags and other consumable parts wear out with use and are treated as consumables.

I stained the wood before assembly by my son-in-law (who had already stained and assembled his planter). I did a light but thorough coat of the stain and it dried pretty quickly in our 100 degree temps. (My son-in-law stained his with a heavier coat and said it was still tacky the next day.). I tested mine by sprinkling a little water on it and it beaded right up. I added a row of pool noodles in the bottom to take up some space as I am only planting herbs. I also added a medium-sized Olla to help with watering. I love the height! I love the planter!

UV protection kit is great! I don’t know if you expected us to use it only on the outside of the wood, but I used it all over because its oil base is good for protecting from moisture as well as UV. Unfortunately, that means that the smaller can you sent didn’t go very far, and the bad news is that no one in town sells the Osmo brand. The GOOD news is that Amazon sells it and I got a gallon of the stain and gallon of the clear satin finish from them and have completed staining and coating 2 of the 48” planters using that. The color is great, and would probably look even more fabulous on the “select” cedar. We chose the regular because these will be outdoor bed and don’t care about knots and such. Very nice finish!

Seems to be doing a great job so far!! You will likely need additional brushes because of the dry time between coatings, unless. You can keep brush from getting gummed up better than I did. Would most likely buy again

I use my cedar planters year round and decided I should give them some weather protection. First coat was the red cedar followed by the clear coat. I have five cedar planters of various sizes and they all look beautiful. Waiting for the 72” planter to be 70% off just like the 48” currently is. Thank you!

Red cedar stain was ready to work with. I painted the exterior surfaces of the box and the slates that face the dirt figuring they would see the most moisture. It took two days to paint. I did one coat reach day using the box the planter came in as my paint booth. Assembly was simple, took me about 45 minutes to assemble. I moved it into position before adding dirt, it held about 4.5 cubic feet of raised bed soil plus about 1/2 cubic foot of added soil organics. Love the way it looks, we will see how it weathers.

The UV Protection was easy to put on and I feel like, that a bit of extra care, it will help me extend the life of the cedar wood even longer. I felt it enhanced the wood color and didn’t have yellow in it. It dried quickly and I was done! I got the kit with the brush to apply it and it was a very nice brush.

How long does assembly really take?

About 10 minutes. Our planters come with pre-cut panels and pre-drilled holes. Just line up the holes, insert the bolts, and tighten with the included wrench. Anyone can do it - we have 85+ year old customers assembling theirs with ease!

Is the cedar treated with any chemicals?

No! Western Red Cedar is naturally rot and pest resistant. It's 100% food-safe for growing vegetables, herbs, and fruits.

What's the difference between Garden Grade and Select Grade?

Garden grade has more natural character - knots, color variation, and grain patterns. Select is our premium grade with more uniform appearance and fewer knots. Both are the same quality and durability.
